Starting to Blog and Building Your Community CHAPTER 1 5 In this chapter, I ll take you through some simple steps to enhance your blog and build your community. First, you ll look in a little more depth at posting to your blog, using both the standard and advanced editing options. I ll show you that you don t need to have any great HTML skills to make rich content for your site. Then you ll see how to manage categories, manage comments, add multiple authors for your site, and create blog pages. During the course of this chapter, you ll install and use two plug-ins, giving you an idea of what WordPress plug-ins can help you do on your site. Finally, I ll give you some tips on improving the search engine visibility of your site, to attract more visitors. Using Basic Post Options In the previous chapter, you created your first post and got a glimpse of the options available for writing posts. Here, I ll describe these options in more detail. You will need to go to the Write Post page to follow along with the discussion. If you are already logged in to your blog, click the Site Admin link at the bottom of the sidebar. If you are not logged in, click the Login link in the same place. From the Dashboard page, click the Write link. Marking Up Your Post with Quicktags As you are writing your post, you can use the quicktag buttons, as shown in Figure 15-1, to add some markup to your posts.
